The 2013 model year brings along major changes to the RAM.  The most significant is an updated chassis with all new frame that increases stability and handling while decreasing noise, vibration, harshness, and weight.  This high-strength, light weight frame is paired with a new front independent suspension with redesigned upper and lower control arms and coil springs for improved responsiveness and handling.  A multi-link coil spring rear suspension replaces a traditional leaf spring setup and offers improved ride and handling characteristics without sacrificing payload and towing capability.  A new aluminum hood, new cross-members in the box floor of the bed, and new front bumper all save weight.  Looking at the front end you will notice an updated front grille, headlamps, and front bumper housing new vertically oriented fog lamps.  Going to the cabin you will notice new material upgrades with improved fit and finish, new dashborad with instrument cluster, and multimedia systems with updated Uconnect.  What was supposed to be a typical refresh turned out to be, for all intents and purposes, an all-new RAM truck for 2013.

  • Incredible reliability and comfort

By ArmyDoc on Thursday, November 09, 2017

My truck has 94K miles. I thought I would trade around 70K miles but could not justify trading until this beast began to fail. It hasnt. Its ride remains very comfortable. The cab is quiet. Has yet to disappoint me on any aspect. I justified new tires, spark plugs and brakes at 93K miles since she just seems to want a few more years with me. I could not be happier.
  • Ram Bighorn Don't Underestimate the V6

By Rod on Monday, September 23, 2019

    5.0
I needed a truck that could multitask and provided the best value. Hauling the occasional load of lumber (with the gate down), concrete, bikes, furniture, Jeep parts etc. and also hauling a family of 4 (sometimes 5) comfortably around town and on longer trips. I also kept debating if I needed a V8 or if the V6 would do the job. I recently hauled home a project jeep from 4 hours away and most of my questions were put to rest. It pulled a trailer with a jeep and many extra part loaded in the bed and Jeep (about 6,500lbs) very well. Although mostly highway, I was able to haul at 65 mph, get onto and off ramps with enough throttle and break to blend with traffic. It averaged 16 mpg FULLY loaded. Not bad considering I get 24 mph highway and 16 city. I've put about 20K miles on the truck over the year and have been very happy with almost all aspects from performance to comfort. While I really like the sound and extra power a Hemi might have. The Pentastar has 300 hp and 260 pound feet it is close to spec for past Truck V8s. The 8 speed Torqueflite transmission it has enough mechanical advantage on demand to get the job done well. It also handles great with 250 pounds less over the front axle. The smooth ride rivals other full sized luxury SUVs. All around I've been happy with V6 choice. If you haul trailers over 6,000 lbs on a regular bases go ahead and get the V8 but if you are hauling a couple motorcycles, jet skis, a small boat or small camper (4k-6k lbs) several weekends a year then this is a great balanced powertrain to do the job. As far as value goes, I let someone else take the new car scent. With 24k on the odometer and almost 2 years old as a fleet vehicle, I got great deal. I hope the next 100k miles keep me happy.
  • I LOVE MY RAM!

By TDMAC on Saturday, June 01, 2019

    5.0
I have owned over 75 vehicles, cars, trucks, crossovers, vans, SUV's, almost every brand, but ...NEVER a Dodge product. Granted, this 2018 RAM (purchased brand new in 2018) has only 25,000 on its first year birthday, so it's still relatively unproven to me, BUT, I LOVE THIS TRUCK! I get tons of compliments on the truck, the color and the overall look (I wash it 2-3 times weekly)...Big Horn, Crew Cab, 5.7 HEMI...I have been in the auto business for years, most recently selling Chevrolet which was a challenge for me. During Silverado customer test drives I felt like I was in a stagecoach compared to my RAM. Steering the Silverado compared to the RAM was amazingly different and the RAM Ride was like a limo! The Chevrolet was most difficult to steer, the RAM, easy, easy! Both well built trucks but the RAM...well, let's just say...I won't ever be buying a Chevrolet. I will return at 50,000 miles for another review update and thereafter continue my reviews.... I own a lifetime bumper-to-bumper warranty good up to 999,999 miles...I fully rust proofed it, interior, exterior protection, so I plan to drive this RAM into oblivion and back! Stay tuned and have confidence in considering a RAM!
